In 1974, on visiting the ejido of Los Cenotes, Municipio of Balancán, Tabasco, the archaeologist Lorenzo Ochoa discovered a manuscript that a Tarahumara from Chihuahua had left in said ejido. It contains the text of three fables. These have been prepared for this publication by the ethnolinguist Luis González R. The tales are in a language heavily influenced by Spanish and are indicative of the linguistic transformation suffered by those who leave their native Tarahumara region for other places.
