Os Usatici Barchinonae: algumas recapitulações de uma tradição textual

Abstract

O presente artigo pretende recuperar a discussão historiográfica e crítico-textual sobre a origem dos Usatges de Barcelona. Essa revisão do estado da arte comporta um exame das hipóteses de datação, interpretações das compilações do código, ademais de explorar as relações de suas fontes, as anotações de sua tipologia e o contexto histórico de sua formação e difusão entre os séculos XII e XIII. Também entra nos objetivos dessa análise considerar o papel ocupado pelos Usatges como fundamento (seja verdadeiro seja idealizado) de uma tradição publicista iniciada na Catalunha medieval. Dentro dessa proposta é possível encarar todos esses elementos se se assumir que muitas das matrizes interpretativas cruzadas em sua historiografia estão a ultrapassar a mera descrição das fontes e chegam a tocar as narrativas institucionalistas que enfatizam a formação do poder público e do Estado moderno. The present article recovers the historiographic and critical-textual discussion about the beginning of the Usatges de Barcelona. This literature review includes an examination about the dating hypotheses, interpretations on the code compilations, in addition to exploring the relationships of codes sources, with some notes on its typology, and the historical context of its formation and diffusion between the 12th-13th Centuries. It also aims to consider the role played by Usatgesas the foundation (be it true or idealized) of a publicist tradition that started in medieval Catalonia. With this approach it is possible to link all these elements assuming that many of the interpretative matrices found in its historiography are going beyond to the mere description of the sources. Finally, the paper it also deals with the institutionalist narratives that emphasize the formation of public power and the modern State.
