De la letra al espíritu. La literatura prehispánica en el manuscrito y más allá del manuscrito

Abstract

The interpretation of sacred Aztec (Nahua) texts offers a virgin field for study. The translator should be conscious that she/he is not only translating the language but also the ritual environment in which the work was recited. In this way, the ancient texts should be understood as a discourse and performance of discourse that the translator needs to reconstruct, in a manner of archeology of the text, through a series of textual markers hidden within the poem itself. The author effects a balance of the works in this respect and proposes a posible translation and setting of the scene for a text which was recited for favorable hunting.
