El siglo de Gilberto Owen

Abstract

Gilberto Owen, like the artists of his generation, worked for Mexico in public employment at a time when the Revolution claimed from its heirs the path of configuration for a new spirit; nevertheless, the better part of his energy was dedicated to the task of life, being the bad conscience of his times and transmuting them into works whose lights have not left off illuminating and astonishing us. Vicente Quirarte makes a study of the works of Gilberto Owen in light of the centennial of his birth and reviews the strength of his work in contemporary Mexican poets.
