Abstract

This essay reflects on Carlos Fuentes book El naranjo, o los círculos del tiempo, where the author plays with the rewriting process, both of history and fiction. As Ortega concludes, it is an exercise full of irreverence and humor that results in a stage where the dead acquire the narration s voice in order to return to the discourse of their days. The narrator in Fuentes is a hyperbole of enunciation ». Rather than a subject, the narrator is an act of speech,so vivid that it ends being a parable of the present, where two temporalities cross each other creating a mythical time, built with a series of parallel instances.
