La encarnación figurativa de la identidad chicana a través de sus expresiones literarias

Abstract

ldentity and symbolic representations of Chicano communities are plural and diverse. From this perspective, using strong arguments and an exhaustive vision of their literature, the author demonstrates that writers such as Carlos Morton, Estela Portillo, Gloria Anzaldúa, Luis Miguel Valdez and Sandra Cisneros, among others, have built a reiterative textuality in Chicano narrative, theatre and poetry: these authors -states Rosler- no matter the historical time when tbey mte, project a subtext in tbeir works that repeatsitself: the Chicano identity stands on a liquid phase of transformation. The Chicano s changing personality, tbe Chicano as incarnation 01 hybrid metaphors, is what remains unalterable through time.
